Florence Owens

Florence Owens was dedicated to the Coast Guard Foundation. As the wife of a Coast Guard member, she realized that the Foundation could make a meaningful difference in the lives of men and women in the service. That's why she made her gifts- less than $20 each year- for much of her life.

Although she knew that in her lifetime she would never be able to make a large gift, Florence still wanted to leave a lasting legacy for the men and women, who like her husband Basil, did so much for our nation. That's why she included the Coast Guard Foundation in her will.

The Coast Guard Foundation is grateful for Florence's bequest. But really, the amount didn't matter as much as her wish to benefit the brave individuals who will wear the Coast Guard uniform for years to come. Her story is an inspiration. It tells us that a person with modest means can still have an impact on the lives of thousands.
